Yifei Sun is Associate Professor at the Department of Geography, California State University, Northridge. He got his Ph.D. in Geography from the State University of New York at Buffalo. His research interests fall within economic geography. Particularly, he is interested in technology, innovation and urban and economic development in China. His research has been funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation. Recently he completed a project on foreign research and development in China. Currently he is working on a project on examining technological upgrading in China’s three major city-regions: Beijing, Shanghai-Suzhou, and Shenzhen-Dongguan. Dr. Sun has published in journals such as Regional Studies, Environment and Planning A, Asian Pacific Business Review, Eurasian Geography and Economics, and The China Review, among many others. His co-edited book: Global R&D in China was published by Routledge in 2008. Prof. Sun has taught courses in research design, urban geography, economic geography, statistics, and geographic information systems. Professor Sun has been guest editors for a couple of journals on a number of special issues on China's innovation and technology, including the China Review (2006 with Yu Zhou) on Science and Technology Development in China, Asia Pacific Business Review (2007 with Max von Zedtwitz and Denis Fred Simon) on Global R&D in China, International Journal of Technology Management (in press with Rongping Mu) on China's New Innovation-Oriented Strategy, and GeoJournal (in press with Ronald Kalafsky) on Asian Manufacturing.
